AY&S Offers Trade for Boat Berth in Beautiful Port Vauban

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Port Vauban is a world-renowned harbor in Antibes on the French Riviera where super yachts gather. Home to more than 100 berths over 75 feet in length, Europe’s largest harbor attracts jet-set crowds from all over the world. Antibes itself is a premier yachting destination, with its elegant French restaurants, cafes, festivals and other unique entertainment.

Surrounded by all types of boating facilities, Port Vauban features berthing alongside and stern-to and an on-site heliport right by the “Billionaire’s Quay.” One of the largest private and public marinas along the Cote d’Azur, it is a very attractive base for boat and yacht owners. Port Vauban is easily accessible from Nice Airport by road, and on the other side of the Cap d’Antibes lays the Bay of Cannes.

But this historic harbor offers more than convenience – Port Vauban dates back as early as 500 BC, when it was used as a base of trade for Greek merchants. Centuries of history lend a novel appeal to this popular port.

Atlantic Yacht & Ship’s Italy-based Mark Meyer currently has a client interested in trading a boat berth in Port Vauban with a 61-foot Sunseeker or similar vessel. If you are interested in exploring Port Vauban and Antibes, you won’t want to miss your opportunity to take advantage of this amazing deal. Contact Mark today by calling 305-677-9137. The 2011 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is over, and Atlantic Yacht & Ship is proud to have enjoyed great success for another year! And, as the Sun Sentinel reports, this weekend’s heavy rainfall didn’t prevent sales from going up.

New boats and marine gadgets were the name of the game at this year’s Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, from revved up horsepower to waterproof fanny packs. Here are some highlights from Florida Sportsman:

  • Huge offshore center-console boats rigged with even more horsepower, as well as reasonably-priced models designed to compete with used-boat prices. Another trend includes well-known offshore center console companies moving into the inshore market.
  • Scout Boats’ new 177 Series of boats, with four different models. Base price $19,995.
  • A 36-foot Yellowfin built for the Texas Highway Patrol. Complete with two machine guns, triple Mercury 4-strokes and suspension seating for speedy chases.
  • Seahead’s ClikPack, a belt add-on pack that is completely waterproof up to 85 feet.
  • SeaSucker’s vacuum-mount system that allows you to mount just about anything to your boat without having to drill a single hole. Mount iPads, cameras, phones and anything else you can imagine.
  • Aqua Design’s sun mask for hunters. The rippled design comes in different colors, and helps to camouflage your clothing from game and fish.
  • Mercury marine’s brand-new 4-stroke 150 hp outboard. Wow.

Whether you came to the show with intentions of investing in any of the amazing yachts for sale or new or used boats for sale, the 52nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show had a little something for everyone. From the latest tech gadgets to new and improved performance specs, marine companies brought their best this year. The Fort Lauderdale Boat Show may be over, but if you are still interested in a boat or yacht for sale, contact Atlantic Yacht & Ship today to browse hundreds of listings from top manufacturers.

The Rise of the ‘Gigayacht’

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

As if the news of 25-year-old Brian McCarthy, son of the millionaire president of Marriott International, winning $107 million in the Mega Millions jackpot wasn’t enough to incite an eye roll or two, CNN International reports that the ‘gigayacht’ is on the rise for the super rich.

“For the billionaire who has everything, sometimes a superyacht just isn’t enough,” reports CNN.  “Gigayachts” are the ultimate status symbol, communicating power, eminence and a seemingly limitless supply of cash. Once the rich become the super rich, it’s all about being the biggest and the best – “There’s definitely a ‘mine is bigger than yours’ syndrome in this industry and there is a desire to have the best. That’s the great thing about these yachts,” said Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess Yachts, one of the world’s leading yacht brokers. Buyers of gigayachts are accustomed to surrounding themselves with the most opulent and exceptional possessions, and as owners seek bigger and better yachts, the term ‘gigayacht’ is becoming more and more prevalent. Although there is no standard definition for what qualifies a boat as a “gigayacht,” SuperYacht World editor Paul Ashton says, “A gigayacht I would say is anything that is over 220 feet (67 meters) where the majority of the yacht is customized and bespoke.”

So who currently owns the world’s most expensive yacht? CNN names Roman Abramovich’s “Eclipse,” believed to be between $540 million and $1.1 billion. However, a couple of weeks ago, we reported on “History Supreme,” the $4.8 billion precious-metal-encrusted superyacht (by Ashton’s standards) designed by Stuart Hughes. We’re assuming History Supreme wasn’t named because the buyer hasn’t been officially identified.
